LAWMA says Olusosun upgrade cuts waste-truck queues

LAWMA says Olusosun platform upgrade reduces waste-truck queues

The Lagos Waste Management Authority says an upgrade to the E1 tipping platform at Olusosun dumpsite has shortened truck queues and improved waste-disposal operations.

LAWMA Executive Director, Finance, Kunle Adebiyi, outlined the reported gains in a November 3 update, according to Channels Television.

He said extending and stabilising the platform had reduced the time waste compactors spent waiting to discharge their loads. The improvement, he added, strengthened the agency’s capacity to tackle refuse backlogs across Lagos.

Improvement figures not supplied

The update did not include before-and-after waiting times, truck numbers or waste-volume figures. IDNN has not independently verified the reported improvement.

Earlier programme covered two platforms

PUNCH previously reported that LAWMA had begun works on the E1 and E2 platforms through Zoomlion Nigeria Limited.

The stated aim was to accommodate more trucks at the same time and improve disposal efficiency and safety. The November 3 update specifically identifies E1. The status of the remaining works was not specified.

Agency urges proper waste disposal

Adebiyi also warned that refuse was reappearing at some previously cleared locations. He urged residents to avoid dumping on road medians and other unauthorised sites and to use their assigned private waste operators.

The update did not list the locations cleared or quantify the remaining refuse backlog.
