NDLEA Says Six Suspects Arrested in Edo Raids
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says six suspects were arrested during coordinated raids in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The operations took place between October 15 and 16 in Warake, Ivhiaro and Ewe/Irue communities.
NDLEA identified the suspects as Grace Ehimeka, Ayo Aigberadion, Ali Garba, Habib Braimoh, Musa Mubid and Hope Okoro.
The six remain suspects. Their arrests and the agency’s seizure claims do not amount to findings of guilt, and no conviction has been established.
NDLEA Reports Cannabis and Other Seizures
NDLEA said Ehimeka, 85, was arrested in Warake with 179 kilogrammes of cannabis.
The agency said Aigberadion was found with 220.8kg of cannabis, while Garba was linked to 5.852kg and Braimoh to 100 grams.
It said Mubid was arrested with 2kg of cannabis, cannabis seeds and pharmaceutical substances.
Okoro was reported to have been arrested with 237 grams of “loud,” a cannabis strain.
In a separate Edo Command account, NDLEA put the combined seizures from the coordinated raids at 407.39kg of cannabis, 546g of loud, 114g of tramadol, 4g of diazepam and 3g of Swinol.
Those quantities are NDLEA figures and have not been independently verified by IDNN.
October Raids Separate From September Arrests
The October operation is separate from the Edo Command’s September scorecard, which reported 42 arrests during that month.
The September figure relates to different operations and should not be added to the six arrests in this case.
What Happens After the Arrests?
The next question is whether the investigation moves into formal prosecution.
That will depend on whether charges are filed, what offences are alleged and how any cases proceed through the courts.
Any change in the suspects’ legal status must be based on verified court or agency record.
