Police Arrest Rivers Man After Father’s Alleged Machete Killing
Police in Rivers State have arrested a man identified as Seth following the alleged killing of his father in the Pipeline area of Rumukwurushi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Rivers State Police spokesperson Blessing Agabe confirmed the incident and arrest and said investigators were working to establish what happened and the motive behind the alleged killing.
The suspect remains under investigation.
Police have not announced a charge, arraignment, plea or conviction.
Police investigation ongoing
Agabe said the suspect had been taken into custody while the command continued its investigation.
That is the strongest official position currently established.
A neighbour told Punch that Seth allegedly attacked his father at home while his mother was away at work.
The neighbour also alleged that Seth had consumed a hard liquor known locally as “Ice” and that tensions had previously occurred inside the household.
Those claims are not police findings.
IDNN is therefore not treating alcohol use, an argument over food or any other suggested motive as established fact.
Alleged confession remains unconfirmed
The neighbour further alleged that Seth admitted killing his father after residents and security personnel entered the house.
Police have not publicly confirmed that account as a formal confession or said whether any such statement forms part of the evidence under investigation.
That distinction is material.
A witness account that a suspect admitted an act is not the same as a police-recorded confession, a criminal charge or a conviction.
What police have established
The strongest verified position currently contains three elements:
- a man died in Rumukwurushi;
- Seth was arrested;
- Rivers Police say the case remains under investigation.
What has not yet been established publicly is the motive, the full evidential sequence or what legal step will follow.
For the family, the incident has produced both a bereavement and an active criminal investigation involving another member of the household.
The next justice question is straightforward:
What evidence do investigators establish, what offence — if any — will be charged, and will the case proceed to court?
Until then, the legally safe position remains clear: Seth has been arrested after his father’s alleged killing, but guilt has not been established and the motive remains under investigation.
