Troops Rescue Two Abducted Victims in Plateau as Arrest Total Remains Unclear
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace say they rescued two abducted victims and arrested 11 people during a security operation in Jos North, Plateau State.
Separate arrests were also reported in Bassa and Mangu local government areas, but the combined statewide arrest total remains unclear because published accounts do not fully reconcile.
The Jos North operation followed raids on locations in Shere, Gwafan and Maza Hills on Saturday, September 19.
The two rescued victims had reportedly been abducted from Gwafan Community a day earlier.
Victims reportedly identify three detainees
The military says the rescued victims identified three of the 11 people arrested in Jos North as alleged members of the group responsible for their abduction.
That identification is an investigative lead, not a judicial finding.

Separate arrest reported in Bassa

Troops also reported recovering a locally fabricated rifle during that operation.
That arrest is separate from the 11-person Jos North operation.
Another arrest reported in Mangu
A further operation was reported in Mangu Local Government Area, where troops on patrol along the Tul-Ntam-Angwan Mata-Deng-Deng axis detained another person.
The military alleges that the person attempted to conceal a weapon after seeing troops.
A search reportedly produced a locally fabricated automatic weapon, nine rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and a mobile phone.
That case is also separate from the Jos North arrests.

Some reports say 12 people were arrested overall, apparently combining the 11 Jos North arrests with the separate Bassa arrest.
