David Akintola is back in green.
Omonia Nicosia have confirmed the return of the Nigerian forward after reaching an agreement with Hull City for his transfer, with Akintola signing a two-year contract at the Cypriot club.
The move takes the 30-year-old back to familiar territory.
Akintola previously played for Omonia during the 2019-20 season, joining in January and making seven appearances while providing two assists before the campaign was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. Omonia credited him with contributing to the team’s first-place finish that season.
Now he returns with another chapter to write.
Akintola can play as a winger and forward, and the club have already added him to their first-team squad. He will wear the No. 8 shirt.
For Akintola, the transfer also ends his spell with Hull City.
His last appearance for the English club came on August 28, 2026, in the EFL Cup. He had spent the previous five years in Turkish football with Adana Demirspor, Rizespor and Hatayspor before moving to England.
There is obvious familiarity in the move, but also fresh pressure.
Omonia are already active in the 2026-27 season and remain involved in European competition.
