Minnesota United deny James Rodriguez illness rumours after hospital stay

Minnesota United moved quickly to shut down rumours around James Rodriguez after the Colombian midfielder spent several days in hospital. On Monday, the club said Rodriguez had returned to its training base and started a supervised return-to-activity session after treatment for severe dehydration.

The club also rejected claims that Rodriguez was suffering from rhabdomyolysis. Minnesota said its medical staff found no clinical or laboratory evidence to support that suggestion. The club added that doctors will guide his full return based on his progress.

Colombia’s federation had already described the issue as a non-sport-related medical condition. It also said his outlook was favorable. That clarification helped separate the episode from injury talk and other false claims linked to football activity.

Minnesota are trying to stop misinformation from spreading while keeping the medical update clear and careful. The club has not given a date for his return to full training or match action.

Rodriguez joined Minnesota United in February on a short-term deal. The club have made it clear they will manage his comeback step by step. For now, the confirmed message is simple: he is back with the team, he is improving, and the illness rumours went too far.
