2Baba Family Petitions IGP Over Assault, Bigamy Allegations Against Lawmaker Wife Natasha

The controversy around Innocent “2Baba” Idibia’s marriage to Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has intensified as his family formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police over allegations ranging from physical assault to financial manipulation. The petition follows weeks of public concern triggered by videos showing chaotic confrontations between the couple and comments from close associates urging intervention.

According to the petition, the family alleges that Natasha assaulted the singer multiple times in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, gained unauthorised access to his phone and bank accounts, and transferred funds without consent. They also accuse her of seizing 2Baba’s passport and personal property, preventing him from meeting business obligations and triggering financial losses.

The letter further raises a potential case of bigamy and fraudulent misrepresentation, urging investigators to verify claims suggesting she may have been legally married while entering the union with the musician. The family said the developments have caused “emotional distress, reputational damage and severe professional setbacks.”

The dispute, already viral across social platforms, erupted after a tense Instagram Live session hosted by Daddy Freeze, where the couple argued publicly. Lawmakers in Edo State have since summoned Natasha before the Assembly’s Ethics and Privileges Committee.

2Baba initially downplayed concerns, telling fans he was “fine” and urging calm. But his older brother, Hyacinth, countered in a public message, pleading with him to “allow us save you,” describing the marriage as abusive and destabilising.

The police have yet to issue a formal response to the petition.
