Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has rewarded Super Falcons winger Francisca Ordega with N50 million and a fully furnished three-bedroom bungalow following Nigeria’s historic triumph at the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Super Falcons claimed their 10th continental crown after defeating hosts Morocco 3–2 in a pulsating final at the Olympic Stadium, Rabat.

Although Ordega made only one appearance in the tournament — a goalless group-stage draw against Algeria — she remains one of the team’s most decorated players, with five WAFCON titles and 26 international caps, scoring seven goals.

Governor Alia described Ordega as “a pride of Benue and Nigeria,” commending her commitment to women’s football and her role as a role model for aspiring athletes.

The Al-Ittihad Ladies forward, who has represented Nigeria at multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups, received the rewards during a ceremony at the Benue State Government House, Makurdi.

“Francisca has shown discipline, patriotism, and excellence on and off the pitch. This gesture is a token of our appreciation for her service to the state and nation,” Governor Alia said.

The Super Falcons’ 2024 win extended their record as the most successful team in African women’s football, while Ordega’s decorated career continues to inspire a new generation.
