Manchester United Collapse Against Brentford in 7-Goal Thriller

🧨 Brentford Shock United in 7-Goal Premier League Spectacle

by IDNN SportsDesk

Manchester United’s turbulent season continued with a dramatic 4-3 defeat at Brentford, as the Red Devils shipped four goals in a chaotic encounter that further dents their hopes of securing European football next season.

Brentford’s Kevin Schade was the hero of the afternoon, scoring a brace and tearing through United’s backline with blistering pace and precise finishing. His first came in the 12th minute, before adding another in the 39th, both times punishing poor defensive transitions.

United equalised twice through Mason Mount and Alejandro Garnacho, but defensive disarray and questionable substitutions once again haunted Erik ten Hag’s side. The Dutch manager’s decision to pull Casemiro late in the game left the midfield exposed.

Defensive Meltdown Continues for United

Despite dominating possession, United’s backline—missing Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martínez—was regularly caught on the break. The team has now conceded 14 goals in their last four matches, raising serious questions about Ten Hag’s defensive setup.

Brentford, meanwhile, climbed into the top half of the table with the win, reaffirming their status as one of the Premier League’s most disciplined and opportunistic sides.

“We weren’t brave enough without the ball,” Ten Hag admitted post-match. “It’s frustrating to score three and still lose.”

United’s Form Heading into Final Stretch

With just three matches left in the league season, United remain in 7th place, five points behind Tottenham. Their hopes of Champions League qualification are nearly extinguished, while even Europa League participation remains uncertain.

They next face Brighton, before clashes against Arsenal and West Ham close out the season.
