“He’s Out!” – VeryDarkMan Walks Free After EFCC Storm

By IDNN Political Desk | Abuja

He’s out — and the internet is on fire.
Popular social crusader and online firebrand Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has been released by the EFCC after nearly a week-long media storm, viral outrage, and high-powered interventions from political heavyweights and celebrities.

News of his release broke on Wednesday when Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate and activist, dropped the bombshell tweet that shook social media:

“Thanks to unrelenting efforts of all, @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC. He is with his ebullient lawyer, @adeyanjudeji.”

VDM’s lawyer, the indefatigable Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the release and unleashed a gratitude-laced post naming a roll call of power players who stood up:

“Special thanks to @DAPLawFirm, @Marvin_Omorogbe, Nigerians, Egbon @YeleSowore, HE Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Davido, opposition lawmakers… and even the EFCC Chairman. The struggle continues.”

🎯 Social Media Bail or Real Freedom?

Before his release, Adeyanju had blasted the EFCC for what he called “social media bail,” alleging the agency granted bail in words but refused to issue the legal documents for days.

EFCC’s official stance? VDM had ignored multiple summons and was finally taken in for questioning over “serious financial crime allegations” following multiple petitions.

“He was invited. He ignored. Now he’s out on administrative bail, pending condition fulfillment,” said EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale.

 What’s Next?

As supporters celebrate across the country and on every major platform, questions remain:
Will formal charges follow? Will VDM resume his no-holds-barred activism online? Or will he tone it down?

Whatever comes next, one thing’s clear: VeryDarkMan is out. And Nigeria noticed.
