Tyson Fury has revealed that the tragic accident involving Anthony Joshua was the driving force behind his decision to come out of retirement and return to the boxing ring.
Fury, who had previously announced his retirement at the beginning of 2025, was on holiday in Thailand when he learned about the fatal car crash involving Joshua while the fighter was visiting family in Nigeria.

Joshuaโs close friends and training team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, tragically lost their lives in the incident. Joshua himself was hospitalized but is recovering.
Fury Reflects on Lifeโs Fragility
Fury, who had been enjoying retirement, shared his emotional reaction during a press conference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. โTomorrow might not ever come,โ Fury said. โThe biggest turning point in this comeback for me was the tragedy that happened with Anthony Joshua.โ
โI was in Thailand with my family for Christmas, just getting away from the rain, and then I hear all that bad news. And I thought, you know what, life is very short, very precious, and very fragile.โ
Furyโs reflection on lifeโs impermanence and the importance of living for the present became the catalyst for his decision to return to boxing.

Furyโs Passion for Boxing
โThere is no tomorrow to put it off to,โ Fury continued. โSo, thatโs why Iโm back today for this big fight.โ
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans who have long admired Furyโs larger-than-life personality and boxing skills.
โI love boxing, Iโm passionate about it, and Iโve always been in love with it. Itโs my work, itโs my life,โ Fury added.
Makhmudovโs Challenge
Furyโs comeback fight will see him take on Arslanbek Makhmudov, a Russian-based fighter who has mixed results in his career. Makhmudovโs notable defeats to Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello are contrasted by his recent victory over David Allen in Sheffield.
The fight represents a huge opportunity for Makhmudov, who has been vocal about his ambitions. โFor me, itโs a dream fight. All my life I go for my goal. Iโm coming here for my legacy, my story,โ Makhmudov said.

Fury Warns Makhmudov Against Overconfidence
However, Fury has warned Makhmudov not to take too much confidence from his win over Allen. Fury made it clear that Makhmudov is stepping into a different league with his upcoming fight against a former heavyweight world champion.
โThatโs like swimming in a garden pond and trying to swim across the Atlantic Ocean in bad weather,โ Fury said, emphasizing the difference in competition levels.
Fury added, โIโm looking forward to punching his face right in. Itโs been a while, Iโve missed it. I missed it a lot. I have to fight somebody dangerous to make me want to even train, make me want to take it seriously.โ

Furyโs Prediction
In typical Fury fashion, the boxer finished his press conference with a bold prediction for the upcoming fight. โProbably a big right hand. KO. Round six,โ he stated, exuding his usual confidence ahead of his return to the ring.
Whatโs Next for Fury?
As Fury prepares for his comeback fight, all eyes will be on him as he takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11, 2026, in London. Fans are eager to see whether Furyโs passion and determination will propel him back to the top of the heavyweight division or if Makhmudov will provide an unexpected challenge.
