MATCH REPORT

Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals for the first time since 2019 with a gritty 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, thanks to a nerveless penalty from striker Dominic Solanke.

The win ended Frankfurt’s 12-match unbeaten streak in the competition and capped an impressive defensive performance from Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Solanke Seizes the Moment

Frankfurt came out flying, with a long ball from Kaua Santos nearly setting up Hugo Ekitike, only for Micky van de Ven to make a crucial last-ditch tackle.

Spurs slowly grew into the game and got their chance when James Maddison was fouled by goalkeeper Santos. The referee pointed to the spot without hesitation.

Dominic Solanke stepped up with composure, ending his 11-match goal drought by slotting the ball down the middle. 1-0 Spurs.

Holding the Fortress

Frankfurt threatened an equalizer early in the second half. Fares Chaïbi’s free-kick skimmed the post, and the hosts kept pushing.

However, Spurs nearly doubled their lead when Cristian Romero’s header flashed wide from a Pedro Porro corner.

In the dying moments, Chaïbi forced a sharp reaction save from Guglielmo Vicario, but Spurs held on, becoming the first team this season to keep a clean sheet at Deutsche Bank Park.
