Tinubu Cancels G20 Trip, Confirms Rescue of 38 Kwara Worshippers Amid Nationwide Security Surge

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday confirmed that all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued following days of coordinated operations by security agencies.
Tinubu cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee the response to multiple mass kidnappings unfolding across the North-Central.

In an official statement, he said he was receiving “continuous briefings” on rescue missions, adding that security agencies had been ordered to move with “speed, precision and absolute resolve.”

The abducted worshippers were seized during a midweek prayer session at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igan, in an attack that left three dead and heightened fears of coordinated bandit operations across Kwara’s borders with Niger and Kogi.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq earlier confirmed the release, attributing the breakthrough to an aggressive joint operation involving the DSS, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, NIA, and newly deployed tactical units dispatched on Tinubu’s directive.

Tinubu vowed that the Federal Government would not relent, declaring: “Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety. Under my watch, we will secure this nation.”
