In a bombshell revelation, Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has gone public with a year-old allegation that fellow actor Jim Iyke attempted to shoot him during a heated moment on a film set in January 2024.

In a recent Instagram video, Okeke appeared shaken but composed, addressing fans and colleagues:

“Without being adamant, I respectfully maintain that an obituary wouldn’t have been fair on me either… if Jim Iyke had succeeded in using that gun,” he said.

Gideon Okeke has revived a chilling allegation that Jim Iyke once attempted to shoot him on a movie set
“By September 2025, it will be a year since I reported the case. Nobody spoke up. Not one voice from the industry,” he lamented.

Nollywood’s Deafening Silence – Guild Called Out

Okeke revealed that he filed a formal complaint with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) shortly after the incident, yet no action was taken—and nearly a year has passed.

“By September 2025, it will be a year since I reported the case. Nobody spoke up. Not one voice from the industry,” he lamented.

He expressed disappointment in what he called Nollywood’s “culture of silence,” especially in matters of violence, intimidation, or abuse among actors.

The Apology: “Yes, I Spoke Harshly. But My Life Was on the Line.”

In the same emotional video, Okeke issued a public apology to his fans and colleagues for past public outbursts, but maintained that his fears were real.

“I am sorry. I truly am. But if I had died that day, none of you would be here defending me.”

Industry Accountability in Question

The case, though unresolved, has sparked broader discussions about celebrity privilege, industry cover-ups, and personal safety in Nigeria’s film industry.

Critics argue that powerful figures in Nollywood are often protected from scrutiny — especially when the victim is perceived as less influential.

Jim Iyke Yet to Respond

As of press time, Jim Iyke has not issued a statement addressing the revived allegation. His silence has further fueled online speculation and renewed calls for an independent review.

“I want peace. I want closure. I don’t want another rising actor to go through what I went through,” Okeke said

A Plea for Justice, Not Drama

“I want peace. I want closure. I don’t want another rising actor to go through what I went through,” Okeke said in closing.

For now, the industry remains tight-lipped — but the public pressure may force a reckoning that Nollywood has long avoided.
