Eniola Bolaji Climbs to World No. 1 in Para Badminton SL3 Category

Eniola Bolaji, Nigeriaโ€™s para-badminton champion, has reached World No. 1 in the SL3 category. This achievement follows her impressive silver medal finish at the 2026 World Para Badminton Championship in Bahrain.

Bolaji’s climb to the top of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings comes after her standout performances this season, including a victory at the Egypt International in January.

Bolaji’s rise to World No. 1 is a historic first for Africa. She became the first African woman to reach this ranking in para-badminton. Her performance at the 2026 World Championship was exceptional, and although Shino Kawai of Japan defeated her in the final, Bolajiโ€™s silver medal remains a major milestone for Nigeria and African sport.
