Bayern Munich sent shockwaves through the FIFA Club World Cup with a merciless 10-0 thrashing of Auckland City, recording the largest-ever margin of victory in the competition’s history.

It was a clinical, ruthless performance at the TQL Stadium, one that underlined the gulf in class between Europe’s elite and Oceania’s hopefuls. Leading the onslaught was Jamal Musiala, who came off the bench to score a 16-minute hat-trick and seal what will go down as a historic night for both himself and Bayern.

“This is Bayern. We don’t stop at three or four,” Musiala said post-match. “We smell blood, and we go for the kill.”

Early Warning, Relentless Execution

The writing was on the wall from the 5th minute when Kingsley Coman nodded in the opener. What followed was an avalanche.

  • Sascha Boey and Michael Olise both scored in quick succession, assisted by the evergreen Thomas Müller.

  • Coman added another, then Müller volleyed in a fifth before Olise curled in a stunning sixth just before halftime.

It was 6-0 at the break, and the second half didn’t offer any relief.

Musiala Show: Hat-trick in 16 Minutes

Subbed on in the second half, Jamal Musiala brought a different level of chaos.

  • He curled in a stunner from the edge of the box,

  • Slotted a composed penalty after being fouled,

  • And pounced on a loose back pass to complete his hat-trick in just 16 minutes.

Thomas Müller capped the rout in the 89th minute with a tap-in, making it 10-0 — a record-breaking result that eclipses every prior margin in Club World Cup history.

“We respected our opponents, but we also respected our standards,” said manager Vincent Kompany, now in his debut Club World Cup campaign with Bayern.

Auckland Outclassed

Despite encouraging early moments from New Zealand’s champions, Auckland City were completely outgunned. Goalkeeper Conor Tracey faced over 20 shots on target and, if not for several acrobatic saves, the scoreline could’ve been worse.

Their next fixtures against Benfica and Boca Juniors offer no relief.

“We knew it would be tough, but this was a lesson in levels,” said Auckland head coach Albert Riera. “We regroup and move forward.”
