Nigerian Navy opens Batch 39 recruitment as applications begin October 2
The Nigerian Navy has announced its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, with online applications scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31.
The exercise is for entry into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School and is open to qualified Nigerian citizens who meet the Navy’s stated age, educational, physical and medical requirements.
The Navy’s current recruitment landing page identifies the exercise as the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Batch 39 Recruitment Exercise, while some older Batch 38 material remains accessible elsewhere on the recruitment domain.
Who can apply
According to Batch 39 recruitment guidelines reported on September 28, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identification Number.
Those applying with O’Level qualifications must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
Applicants in that category are expected to have at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.
Different qualification and age requirements apply to applicants with OND, NCE and professional qualifications, as well as to tradesmen, medical personnel and sports applicants.
The reported minimum height requirement is 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.
Candidates must also satisfy the Navy’s medical, psychological and physical fitness requirements.
Recruitment is free
The Navy says registration and recruitment are free.
Applicants have been warned not to pay agents, intermediaries or third parties claiming they can secure recruitment places.
Only one valid application is permitted, and multiple applications may lead to disqualification.
The Navy is expected to announce examination dates and venues separately.
Navy had earlier warned about fake notice
The current announcement follows an earlier warning from the Navy over an unauthorised Batch 39 recruitment notice that circulated online in September.
On September 21, the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, said that notice was not authorised and advised prospective applicants to rely only on official Navy channels.
The Navy also warned that it had not authorised third parties to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
That distinction remains important because older recruitment-cycle material is still accessible on parts of the recruitment website.
Applicants should therefore confirm that any information they use relates specifically to Batch 39 and the 2026 exercise, rather than an earlier recruitment cycle.
Applications are scheduled to open October 2 and close October 31, 2026.
