Police in Anambra State say a 32-year-old woman has been arrested after a seven-year-old girl was rescued in Awada-Obosi over allegations of severe physical abuse.
The Anambra State Police Command said the case was reported on September 13 after community security personnel and residents intervened.
Police said preliminary information indicated that the child had suffered injuries allegedly inflicted by her mother.
The allegation remains under investigation, and the arrest does not establish guilt.
