João Pedro Wins Premier League Player of the Month After Flying Chelsea Start

João Pedro’s flying start to the season has delivered its first major league-wide reward.

The Chelsea forward has been named the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month for August 2026, according to same-day reporting, after opening the campaign with two goals and two assists.

The recognition reflects how quickly João Pedro has imposed himself on Chelsea’s attack.

The Brazilian registered two goals and two assists in two August matches, putting him among the division’s most productive attacking players during the opening phase of the season.

He made an immediate impact against Fulham, scoring inside the opening minute before setting up Cole Palmer for the decisive goal.

João Pedro followed that by scoring again against Brighton and creating another goal for Palmer as Chelsea maintained their fast start.

Those performances pushed him into a competitive shortlist that also included Palmer, Riccardo Calafiori, Rayan Cherki, Bruno Fernandes, Mamadou Sangaré, Konstantinos Tzolakis and Yoane Wissa.

João Pedro’s two-goal, two-assist August has been followed by reported Premier League Player of the Month recognition.

For Chelsea, the reported award win reinforces the early influence João Pedro has established in an attack carrying significant expectation.

He had already won Chelsea’s own Player of the Month award for August, collecting 77 per cent of the supporter vote after his productive start.

That club honour is separate from the Premier League award, but together they underline how quickly momentum has built around the Brazilian.

The bigger pressure now comes with sustaining it.

Monthly awards capture form. They also raise the standard.

João Pedro has shown that he can score, create and influence Chelsea’s attack in the opening weeks of the season.

What comes next will determine whether August was simply an explosive start or the beginning of something much bigger.
