The UK government has named Norwich City and Charlton Athletic among employers who failed to pay workers the minimum wage. The announcement forms part of a wider enforcement action targeting hundreds of businesses.

Norwich City owes £99,021.76 to 1,152 workers. The club ranks 12th on the list based on the amount owed.
Charlton Athletic owes £17,983.18 to 45 workers. Both clubs will repay affected staff and face financial penalties.

Thousands of Workers Affected
Authorities have ordered employers to repay nearly 60,000 workers across the UK. The move follows investigations into wage compliance in the latest financial year.

Government Response
Business Secretary Peter Kyle said most businesses follow the rules. He stressed that companies should not gain advantage by underpaying staff.
He also said enforcement will increase through the new Fair Work Agency.

This marks the first public naming round under the government’s plan to expose wage violations. The policy aims to improve compliance and protect workers’ rights.

Minimum Wage Set to Rise
