Champions League Knockout Play-offs: Atletico Madrid, Newcastle, Leverkusen Confirm Round of 16 Spots

The first four teams have confirmed their spots in the Champions League Round of 16, following the second legs in the knockout play-offs on Tuesday night.

Atletico Madrid Dominates Club Brugge

Atletico Madrid delivered a strong 4-1 victory over Club Brugge at the Wanda Metropolitano. This secured a 7-4 aggregate win for the La Liga side. Alexander Sorloth stood out with a hat-trick, helping Atletico advance comfortably to the last 16.

Newcastle Triumphs Over Qarabag

Newcastle United also advanced, defeating Qarabag 3-2 in the second leg at St. James’ Park. With a dominant 6-1 win in Baku, Newcastle triumphed 9-3 on aggregate, showing their strength over the two legs.

Inter Milan and Leverkusen Edge Forward

Inter Milan’s journey ended at the hands of Bodo/Glimt, who won 2-1 at San Siro. Bodo/Glimt moved on with a 5-2 aggregate score. The defeat was disappointing for Inter, who had hoped for a better run in the knockout rounds.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-0 aggregate victory over Olympiakos. It finished 0-0 in the second leg. Leverkusen’s solid performances were enough to see them into the next stage.
