The Nigerian Army terror operations conducted nationwide between November 29 and December 1 have shattered multiple criminal networks, neutralising eight armed fighters, arresting 51 suspects and rescuing 27 kidnap victims, according to a military statement released Tuesday.
Across the North-East, North-Central, North-West and South-South zones, troops executed coordinated raids targeting extremist cells, kidnappers, gunrunners, illegal miners, human traffickers and cult groups.
The operations represent one of the strongest synchronised national responses since early 2025.
Nigerian Army Terror Operations Deliver Major Breakthroughs Across Regions
In Borno State, troops under 151, 152 and 192 Battalions neutralised four ISWAP and JAS terrorists during ambush and clearance operations.
Recovered items included:
- 3 AK-47 rifles
- 4 AK-47 magazines with 70 rounds
- 31 rounds of 12.7mm
- 171 rounds of 7.62x54mm
- 183 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO
- an AK working part
- a Baofeng radio
Troops also repelled attempted infiltrations around Chibok, maintaining strong defence lines.
North-Central & North-West: Kidnap Gangs Crushed, Victims Freed
In Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi and Kaduna, troops rescued 20 victims and carried out decisive arrests, including:
- 2 suspected kidnappers (Panyam)
- 4 human traffickers (Sardauna)
- 3 extremist collaborators (Ukum)
- 13 illegal miners (Lau)
- 2 cultists (Delta)
- 1 gunrunner (Plateau)
Troops also recovered 76 rustled cattle and returned them to rightful owners.
South-South: Oil Theft Shutdowns & NDLEA Joint Raids
Anti-oil theft troops dismantled an illegal refining site containing 1,000 litres of stolen crude.
A joint raid with NDLEA resulted in 25 drug suspects arrested in Bayelsa and Rivers States.
Explosives Intercepted: 5,000kg Gelatine, Cordtex & Detonators
In Kaduna, troops intercepted vehicles transporting:
- 5,000kg of gelatine explosives
- 3,000m cordtex fuse
- 10 electric detonators
- 1,000m of connecting wire
Military intelligence suggests the materials were set for major coordinated attacks.
High-Value Arrest: Notorious Gunrunner Taken Down
Troops arrested Shuaibu Isah (aka Alhaji), a known gunrunner attempting to receive 1,000 rounds from accomplices. The military describes this arrest as a “significant breakthrough” in drying up local arms supply chains.
Army Vows No Safe Haven for Criminals
The Army declared that no criminal network—terrorists, kidnappers, gunrunners or oil thieves—will find safe operating ground under ongoing nationwide operations.
A senior officer said:
“These operations send a clear message: every criminal cell will be hunted. There are no safe corridors.”
