APC Slams Atiku, Says Anarchy Talk Degrades His Status

By: Politics Desk

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Atiku Abubakar of reckless rhetoric after he warned hunger could trigger a revolution in Nigeria.

Party Counters Revolution Talk

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said Atiku’s comments likening Nigeria’s hardship to past revolutions were “a new low.” He argued that Atiku’s words amounted to tacitly instigating unrest, which he described as irresponsible and unbecoming of a former vice president.

Morka said: “His statement is reckless, irresponsible, unbefitting and degrading to his status as former Vice President.”

Record in Power Questioned

The APC accused Atiku and the PDP of failing to address poverty and insecurity during their 16 years in office, despite high oil revenues. Morka alleged they “democratised hunger and poverty,” looted the treasury, and entrenched corruption as state policy.

He added that Atiku was “clueless” in power and remains “clueless” as a perpetual presidential aspirant.

Tinubu’s Reforms Defended

The party highlighted what it called “impressive strides” under President Bola Tinubu, citing inflation moderation and stronger economic indicators. It said Nigerians are already seeing benefits from reforms designed to stabilise the economy and deliver prosperity.

APC maintained that Atiku is “out of touch” with realities, blinded by desperation after repeated electoral defeats.

Raising the Stakes for 2027

The statement warned Nigerians to ignore Atiku’s “inciting” remarks, framing them as self-serving and dangerous to national unity. It said the opposition leader, often abroad, would not share in the consequences of the unrest he predicts.

The exchange signals sharpening hostilities ahead of 2027, as Atiku and the APC position themselves for the next battle over Nigeria’s political and economic direction.
