APC Wins Ghari/Tsanyawa Kano Supplementary Poll with Narrow Margin

APC Wins Ghari/Tsanyawa Kano Supplementary Election with 3,541-Vote Margin

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the Ghari/Tsanyawa supplementary election held in Kano State, reinforcing its influence in the region.

Announcing the results on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Muhammad Waziri of Bayero University, declared APC candidate Garba Gwarmai the winner with 31,472 votes, defeating Yusuf Maigado of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who polled 27,931 votes.

The margin of 3,541 votes was enough to settle the contest, which had been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following irregularities in the original exercise.

Local observers described the re-run as crucial for both parties, with APC seeking to consolidate its dominance and NNPP fighting to retain its foothold in Kano, a state where political control has often shifted between strong rivals.

Political analysts say Gwarmai’s victory will boost APC’s standing in Kano ahead of future elections, especially as the state remains a critical battleground in Nigeria’s political calculations.
