Soludo Gets Re-election Endorsement from Native Doctors, Citing Cultural Inclusion

Awka, Anambra — In a rare show of grassroots alignment, thousands of traditional religious practitioners, native doctors, and spiritual leaders across Anambra State have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for re-election, praising him for championing cultural legitimacy and indigenous regulation.
Gathered under the auspices of the Spiritual Materials and Native Practitioners Association, the group hailed Soludo’s Homeland Security Law as a transformative policy that distinguished true traditional healers from ritual fraudsters.
“Before now, we were criminalized. But Soludo restored our dignity,” said state coordinator Daniel Ejie. “He understands our role in Igbo cosmology.”
Homeland Security Law: A Spiritual Turning Point
The law, passed in January and already operational, legally defines the practice of traditional medicine and officially licenses native doctors, ending years of public stigmatization and blanket criminal profiling.
The law also empowers spiritual associations to report imposters, regulates spiritual marketplaces, and aligns indigenous knowledge with modern governance.
Lawmakers, Palace Leaders Back Policy
House Majority Leader Ikenna Ofodeme, who chaired the Homeland Security bill, said Soludo’s cultural sensitivity should serve as a model for the South East.
“He’s not anti-culture. He’s pro-structure. He gave the spiritual sector a backbone.”
With the endorsement, Soludo now boasts support from one of the most organic and rural-rooted constituencies in the region — a significant political asset ahead of Anambra’s November 2025 gubernatorial polls.
