ABUJA, NIGERIA — Former Bayelsa State Governor and current Senator, Seriake Dickson, has issued a sharp and symbolic warning to three major powerbrokers—Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir El-Rufai—following their open alignment against President Bola Tinubu at a high-profile political gathering in Abuja.
The trio had shared the stage at Amaechi’s 60th birthday celebration, where former Vice President Atiku declared:
“We are now conspirators—united in purpose.”
A Coalition Rising… Again
The public display of unity has fueled speculation of a new opposition mega-coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, likely modeled after the 2015 alliance that ousted President Goodluck Jonathan—a coalition that both Atiku and Amaechi spearheaded, alongside El-Rufai.
But Dickson, a loyalist to the former president and now a senator, didn’t mince words:
“You took out what was described as a clueless government, and now 11 years down the line, poverty has become weaponized. Nigeria’s challenges did not disappear.”

In what many described as a veiled roast of the event’s attendees, Dickson told the crowd:
“There are a number of you who are expert conspirators. You know how to assemble coalitions and take out governments—as you did in 2015. But what has changed since then?”

“This time—shine your eyes. Nigeria cannot afford another coalition that ends in disappointment.”
